Well Farmville started it all and it was bound to create copycat games of one kind or another. Not that Farmerama is a direct copycat but you can see where it has it roots and where its influences came from. And as with the other games Farmerama is also a browser-based resource management game that will probably eat up far more of your personal hours (and work hours too if we’re honest here lads) than you ever expected it to.
The basic idea of this game is the same as most other games of its ilk – you grow crops and sell them to get coins. You use these coins to expand your farm and grow more crops and of course to pay for fertilizer and feed for your existing plants and animals. Very simple but very addictive – I lost count of how many friends vanished from my social circle when Farmville first hit the scene – we have Facebook to thank for that surge in game popularity.
The Basics First
Initially you start off with very basic types of crops that you can grow but as time goes by you’ll earn enough coins to invest in a wider variety of sees that you can then sow for another bumper crop. The basic crops that you can grow include carrots, lettuce, oats and sunflowers but that’s only a quick sample. You can also grow fruit trees but these are pretty costly so you need to make sure your farm is profitable first.
Being a modern farm though you’re not just going to grow crops but raise animals too. You start off with just chickens (that obviously require water and food and cost even more of your precious coins) and as your farm grows you get to choose from a much wider variety of animals of course including sheep etc.
You’re not just limited to the typical farmer countryscape either – you also get to choose from farming locations like Bahamarama and the Magical Glade. There’s also the option of trading and bartering your goods in the market and winning daily prizes from the farm wheel as well as the usual range of challenges to complete to win yourself some additional coins or farming perks.
Award Winning Game
You may not have heard of Farmerama before but it’s been making a big impact on fans all over Europe and so far has won the Mashable Best Online Game award and the Best European Browser Game award too.
You can register for free and if you’re a fan of Farmville, farming or just resource management MMOs in general then Farmerama is well worth a visit.
