Now and again something different comes along in the world of browser-based MMORPG style games and Faxion is most definitely something different. Most MMO games tend to go for either a few typical types of these games that either includes mafia bosses, dragons and dwarves or tanks and soldiers. Faxion is doing something different here because it’s all about the battle between heaven and hell.
Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea
Now this might not be everyone’s cup of tea because there are some visual Biblical references in it but they’re not forced down your throat – this is more of a heads up than anything else. Some people just won’t like this aspect of the game.
The first thing that will strike you when you’re playing the game is that it’s very stylistic in that it doesn’t try to copy the clothing or styling of any other MMORPG that we’ve seen. Some of the characters look that little bit oversized but this works for the game instead of taking away from it.
There are 3 character classes to choose from – these are as follows:
- Reaver and Crusader – Warrior
- Guardian and Zealot – Healer
- Occultist and Diviner – Long range weapons
There are plenty of customization options to choose from so you can choose from male or female, then hair style, skin tone (with a slider palette) and there are also 4 basic head styles to choose from too.
Graphically the game is pretty impressive but probably nothing that you haven’t seen before but the 3D graphics did leave a lasting impression on me. Visually I felt the game was as strong as anything else I’ve seen in the MMORPG arena – you have to remember this is a browser game. The sound effects also work really well in the game itself without being overdone.
And you’re going to be kept busy too with the quests coming thick and fast and you’re going to be kept just as busy building up your skills as you go along. The ultimate goal here is to gain control of Limbo from either the forces of heaven or hell – all depending on which side you want to play for. Oddly enough you’ll see a lot more players wanting to play for the hell side of the game rather than the heavenly forces. Don’t ask me why but I’ve always wanted to play an avenging angel for a while.
Faxion has an awful lot to offer a player willing to take a look at it. The subject of the game might put people off at first but that would be tragic because they’d be missing out on what is a really, really good MMORPG!
